US retail sales ex-fuel and cars fell in June; Producer prices jumped 1.8% in month of June.

The US Census Bureau announced today that advance estimates of US retail and food services sales for June, adjusted for seasonality but not for price changes, were 2.1 billion, an increase of 0.6 percent from the previous month, but 9.0 percent below June 2008. However, the second gain in a row was caused by purchases of gasoline and cars. Retail sales excluding cars and fuel fell 0.2 percent in June. Producer prices jumped 1.8 percent in month of June.
